The 2014 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, from the southern part of the Mazoyeres sector, has a fragrant bouquet with scents of raspberry coulis and blueberry, though these recede as the wine opens in the glass to reveal more flinty, cold stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin matched by a keen line of acidity. It is a linear and poised Charmes-Chambertin, just a touch of spice coming towards the finish that feels long and tender. Such a beautiful wine, but it will need 5-6 years to really show what it can do. [Neal Martin, 28/09/2017]
