2016 Domaine Forey Pere & Fils, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, Les Saint-Georges 1x75cl

(vinified with 50% whole clusters and aging in three tonneaux; Forey reported that there was a bit of frost at the bottom of this vineyard, "but not bad"): Good full red. Highly complex, scented nose combines black cherry, licorice, menthol and cocoa powder. Fairly silky on entry, then fine-grained but quite linear, even a bit severe, in the middle palate; in a distinctly masculine style. Finishes a bit youthfully astringent but perfumed and long, with noteworthy lift. This wine will be slow to develop in bottle. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/01/2018]
