Full bottle 1,358 g. Great vintage after three drought years. Picked very late, into April. Most of the fruit from the same vineyard as supplied his first wine in 1996 but also some of their own organically farmed fruit including about 5% Cabernet Franc. Potato-based fining instead of egg white, so this is certified vegan. Much shorter elevage than in the past, 22 months and no longer 27 months. 80% new oak and light toast. Blackish crimson. Strong cassis aroma. Very neat and nicely balanced and already broachable. Even with a very slight pinch on the end. (JR)
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2026
