Tasting Notes
Neal Martin NR
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru is showing a little more new oak on the nose compared to its peers, but that seems to ebb with aeration, revealing very attractive scents of red berry fruit, sous-bois and crushed stone but also some TCA. The palate is very smooth and fleshy, matched by a fine bead of acidity. There is a slightly honeyed texture and, like a couple of its compatriot Chambolles, the finish requires more tension and grip. Seductive, plush and with just a hint of exoticism, I foresee this repaying bottle age. Maybe time will temper its exuberance. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
