The 2019 Riesling Saarburger Rausch Spatlese presents slightly overripe pear and Persian melon on the nose, reinforced by glycerol richness and strong sweetness on an expansive though alcoholically feather-light palate. This isn t a wine that displays tension, and its finish is pulled back from turning outright sticky only by a faint but welcome tang of pineapple core and a minute trace of salt. But like many typical 2019s, you certainly can t fault its seamless ripeness or sheer persistence.
