Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 92
The 2019 Segla is absolutely gorgeous. Bright and effusive in the glass, with gorgeous aromatic presence, the 2019 impresses with its freshness, vivacity and energy. Crushed red berry fruit and sweet floral accents lend finesse throughout. The 2019 is lithe, elegant and classy from start to finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2039
Neal Martin 93
The 2019 Segla has a tertiary, smoky, pencil box scented bouquet, a bit grouchier than its Margaux peers, stubborn in its flush of youth. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, pretty and quite elegant with a keen thread of acidity. There is impressive precision on the finish, quite mineral-driven with a satisfyingly persistent aftertaste. This Deuxieme Vin always shines in blind tastings, its seductiveness shining through. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2050

62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.Fairly deep blackish garnet. Complete, obviously left-bank wine with a beginning, middle and end. Blackberry compote again. Served slightly too warm for refreshment value. But a true vin de plaisir! Longish. (JR)
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2035
