Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 90
The 2020 La Couspade is an attractive, nuanced Saint-Emilion. Crushed flowers, iron, white pepper, cedar, pipe tobacco and dried herbs give the 2020 lovely aromatic presence to play off its mid-weight structure. La Couspade is very nicely done.

The 2020 La Couspaude has a very ripe nose with black plum, raisin and violet scents, quite extrovert and just about retaining satisfying delineation. The palate is sweet on the entry and as I found out of barrel, the mid-palate is dominated by wood tannins that define the finish. Essentially, there is just too much winemaking and not enough wine in this Saint-Emilion.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2037

75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Slightly dull colour. Some freshness on the nose. Sinews and real energy here. There is well-judged fruit in the middle that s counterbalanced by about the right amount of acidity and fine tannin. This actually left my palate feeling refreshed! (JR)
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2040
