Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 92
The 2020 Roylland shows all the intensity it had as a barrel sample, but with a bit more tannic heft. Creme de cassis, bittersweet chocolate, leather, licorice and copious sweet oak all build into the racy, layered finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2035
Neal Martin 87
The 2020 Roylland has a very intense and decadent bouquet with plush black cherry and creme de cassis aromas. Lots of crushed violet here. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet tannins, very oaky so that the wood tannins crowd out the terroir expression on the finish. I feel this could have been better with more prudence in the winery.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2034
