Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 94
The 2021 Soutard-Cadet is a dark, potent wine. Bright acids cut through a core of black fruit, spice, leather, tobacco, licorice and clove. Dark and brooding, with tons of textural richness, the 2021 is superb. Coulure after flowering reduced yields to a paltry 12 hectoliters-per-hectare. Tasted two times.
Anticipated maturity: 2031-2046
Neal Martin 90.5
The 2021 Soutard-Cadet has a composed bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, becoming darker with aeration and beginning to close up. The palate is medium-bodied with rather tough tannins on the entry. A solid, structured Saint-Emilion, this just feels a bit abrupt on the finish. Hopefully, it will flesh out with time and indeed, a second bottle thankfully has more persistency and verve.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2037
